The British School of Beijing views after school activities (ASA) as a valuable and integral part of the education of our students, and to that end we offer a wide range of activities that aim to introduce the students to potential hobbies, develop particular sports, provide language or IT support and on the whole inspire an interest in areas that perhaps they would not be otherwise exposed to; ASA operate to complement existing opportunities offered by the Music and Sports programmes. - BSB Activities Shunyi - BSB Activities Sanlitun

Shunyi Activity Organisation On ASA days, activities operate for one hour between 3.30-4.30pm. ASA clubs are organized and managed by Activity Leaders; the teachers and teaching assistants. Buses are arranged to take students home on these evenings. The buses will leave school at 4.40pm. The majority of Activities take place in school. Occasionally there may be a small charge to help cover the cost of expendable materials or to pay for the experience of qualified external providers. There are four activity seasons each year:
Student Participation ASA are available for, and offered to, all students from Year 1 through to Year 13. ASA participation is not a school requirement. However, students that do not wish to stay will need to make their own arrangements for collection from school at 3.30pm on ASA days. In the Primary school, ASAs take place on Tuesday and Wednesday and are offered for all students during the course of the academic year. In the Secondary school, ASAs are held on three evening each week; Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. There are also selected activities on Mondays and Fridays. For these activities, students are expected to make their own travel arrangements. Students are asked to complete and return an ASA Choice Form for season 1 and 2 and for sessions 3 and 4 by the deadline indicated on the form. Primary students are asked to select two ASA's and Secondary students three. Every student is expected to maintain attendance at any given club for the duration of a session, reinforcing the idea that any commitment must be followed through.

Activity Allocation Students are allocated activities randomly (not ‘first come, first served’) based on the ASA Choice Forms. However, when ASA group size is limited, priority is given to students who have not taken the ASA previously. Most activities will be offered for more than one ASA session to accommodate student choices. Registrations which are submitted late will be given lower priority.
