Community Service

BSB is a privileged environment and its pupils are encouraged to gain an understanding of the situation of others. So opportunities for community service are fostered within the school and built into the PSHE curriculum.

Fund raising events for specific causes or charitable organisations are held at the school several times a year involving pupils from throughout the school, staff and parents. The school also regularly donates funds and materials to underprivileged schools in China and Cambodia and uses these links to raise awareness of poverty among the members of the school.

Chinese New Year Gifts

This year, members of our school council presented the hardworking and invaluable Ayis, Security staff and handymen with Chinese New Year gifts to show the schools appreciation for their work.

Charity work in Gansu

Nord Anglia Education sponsors construction of a new school for Chinese locals following the Sichuan earthquake.
On 30th June 2009, Nord Anglia announced that it will make a charitable donation of RMB 500,000 (£40,000) to build a permanent new school in China replacing a school destroyed by the earthquake in May.

Shoebox Appeal

In December each year BSB Students carry on a proud British tradition in which UK school children fill a shoebox with small gifts to send to girls and boys in hospitals, orphanages, refugee camps and impoverished neighbourhoods throughout the world. In December 2009 we collected 539 shoe boxes. 499 of these went to disadvantaged children here in Beijing. We also sent 40 boxes to join a further 150 from our sister schools in Shanghai to Gansu.
